The 10th Workshop on Sustainable Engineering Science: New Technologies for Hydrogen Production and Storage
- Di Wu

The first theme focused on “Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier (LOHC) for Hydrogen Storage,” presented by Dr.-Ing. Michael Geißelbrecht and Dr. Julian Kadar—Sub-Team Leader of System Design, Operation, and Innovation in LOHC—from the world-leading research team at the Helmholtz Institute Erlangen-Nürnberg for Renewable Energy (HI ERN) in Germany.
The second theme addressed the hydrogen production. Dr Tayyebeh Soltani Kalat (RC3 member) introduced her research on advanced catalytic materials for water splitting, and hydrogen production.
Following the presentations, we discussed a new direction involving bio-based ionic liquids (e.g., chemical compounds derived from plastic waste) to achieve LOHC. We sincerely hope to join forces in the future and collaborate on providing sustainable solutions for the green energy transition.
